Welcome to the Lillington Free Church Table Tennis Club website
Lillington Free Church Table Tennis Club is a club run by dedicated volunteers with a committed coaching staff.
We cater for all abilities from beginners and social league players to those wanting regular high quality competition. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, family atmosphere as we strive to improve all our players.
Whilst we are justifiably proud of our achievements, loyalty is the quality we cherish most.
In another part of this web-site you can read about the exploits of our Junior British Boys’ team who played magnificent table-tennis at Derby arena. I hope they inspire all of our club members, especially our youngsters. In their division Jack, Ricardo and Nikit were seeded 6th of 6 teams but are placed second at the half-way point of the competition after 4 wins and a narrow loss. This season several of our teams have been placed in divisions where they might easily be thought of as one of the lowest ranked sides. As a club we did not object to the League placings as we are confident that our players can learn from the experience and put it to their advantage. I recently heard about a secondary school who had adopted the motto “sometimes we win, sometimes we learn”. We want you to take the same outlook in your matches. Most of you work hard in practice and coaching each week. We know the potential in our club is staggering so be BRAVE, go for it and remember there is no such thing as failure. If you do find yourself on the wrong end of the scores don’t get upset but take away at least one thing that you can work on. Above all ENJOY your matches.
For those of you not yet in the League may I remind you that Jack, Ricardo and Nikit were once beginners who no doubt would have struggled in our present beginners group at BT school. Be inspired to match their achievements. Have a great season!
The club are very pleased to be able to announce that NS Optimum, the Leamington based IT solutions provider, have agreed to extend their sponsorship of our boys' Junior British League team for the 2017/18 season.
The 2017/18 JBL season starts next weekend, 23/24 September, at the Derby Arena with the first two days of the competition. The Lillington side for the coming season is made up by Jack Green, Ricardo Bolanos and Nikit Sajiv who will be competing in Division 3A.
The club, players and coaches are extremely grateful for NS Optimum's continuing generosity and will hope to them proud.
Please visit the Sponsors section of this website to read more about NS Optimum.
Many congratulations go to club member Alex O'Driscoll who returned from Toronto, Canada, in August as the Men's Singles Silver medallist in the World Dwarf Games.
It took 7 hours of competition for Alex to earn his medal. In his group Will Mavers, Bobby Laing and Alex Palmer, all of Great Britain, were defeated as well as Sam Kimberley of Australia. In the quarter-finals Alex beat Jonathan Blazer of Germany in straight games before facing the eventual champion, Alex Dajean of France, which he lost.
This meant a 3rd/4th play-off with Nathan To of the United States which Alex duly won. However, with the disqualification of the losing finalist Alex struck silver.
We are thrilled to announce that Bath based events company, Event Exchange, have partnered with us for the 2017/18 Senior British League season and will be sponsoring our Lillington II side.
Lillington II, comprising Dave Ramsey, Harry Purewal, Charlotte Spencer, James Robertson and Tom Hunt, will be competing in National Division C-1 at Westfield TTC in Wellingbrough and will be sporting their new, Event Exchange branded shirts.
Since 1997 Event Exchange have designed one-of-a-kind events for businesses of all sectors and sizes, ranging from one-to-one interviews to overnight conferences, executive board meetings to no-holds-barred trips in exotic climes.
