Happy Olympic New Year - and we have an Olympic Elite Athlete right on our doorstep - National Table Tennis Champion Kelly Sibley
Kelly's dream has always been to compete and win a medal at the Olympic Games and she has worked tirelessly to achieve this since she first represented England at the 2000 English Schools table tennis competition at the age of eight. Due to her commitment to the sport she has now been short listed to represent Team GB table tennis squad for the 2012 games. She was first reserve at Beijing four years ago, but is now one of the favourites to achieve selection for our home Olympics - London 2012.
Kelly was born in Leamington, is an International Table Tennis player and has been representing England at senior level since the age of 15 and is the current Ladies National Champion. She has won various gold medals at international events as well as silver and bronze medals. Kelly is an excellent ambassador for the sport and won both the Warwickshire Young Sportswoman of the Year and the BBC Midlands Sports Breakthrough Award in 2006. She is also President of local Lillington Free Church Table Tennis Club (where her table tennis career began), frequently mentoring young players when Olympic training commitments allow her to attend these local table tennis tournaments.
This is your chance to support Kelly (whilst enjoying the sport we all love) by entering this Invitation tournament with includes free entry to an Exhibition by both Kelly and Alan Cooke (Olympian, GB Team Coach and Commonwealth Gold Medallist). Maybe you could win half an hour's coaching by Kelly on the day too (prize in a raffle run on the day). There will also be many other excellent prizes to be won including an England shirt signed by the whole England squad.
