On Wednesday 11th November, Helen Lower, the ETTA Regional Coach for the West Midlands and former England number one, visited the Club to deliver a coaching workshop. The main coaches within the Club attended, as well as some of the coaching assistants who help out at the session by acting as feeds.
Helen went through some of the basic coaching skills, including methods of coaching the four basic strokes to raw beginners, as well as introducing some ideas on how to keep groups of children interested and involved and also went on to explain and demonstrate the principle of multi-ball training and the benefits it can bring.
All who attended the course thoroughly enjoyed it and will be hoping to put some of the skills and ideas into practice!
We were grateful for Helen's time and input, and look forward to welcoming her back to the Club in December, when she will be delivering a coaching session for some of our stronger players.
